Research on the proper use of games in therapy is discussed. A 6 step model of how to use games therapeutically is described including a real case example for the application of various types of games. This includes how to pick the right game, some thoughts on how to find games that fit your client's goals and clinical strategies are discussed. Pro tips and common pitfalls are also reviewed in order to help clinicians with their use of games in the therapy session. Objectives include: By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to: Articulate why theory-driven game use in therapy supports better client outcomes Plan and structure a session with a client using a game therapeutically Identify at least three symptoms or challenges that games have been used to address with children
